Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Heardy iPhone app and the website heardy.app (together, “Heardy”), made by Shashi Kumar Parappanavar (“we”, “us”). By using Heardy you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Heardy.
Who can use Heardy
You must be at least 13 years old. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms.
What Heardy is, and isn’t
Heardy is a practice tool for American English pronunciation. Scores are automated training signals from a speech service and can be wrong. They aren’t a certification, an assessment of language ability, or a measure of how “native” you sound, and Heardy isn’t a substitute for speech therapy or other professional advice.
Your account
Keep your device and sign-in secure; you’re responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account and progress).
Acceptable use
- Record only your own voice, or voices you have permission to record.
- Don’t misuse Heardy, interfere with it, reverse engineer it, or use it to overload our services or the speech service.
- Don’t use Heardy for anything unlawful.
Your content
You own your recordings. You give us permission to process them to provide Heardy, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Our content
The app, lessons, audio, mascot and design belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own, under Apple’s standard terms for App Store apps.
Heardy Pro subscriptions
Heardy is free to use with daily limits: your focus unit, the baseline and retests are always free, plus a set number of scored takes and one speaking answer each day. Heardy Pro removes those limits, subject to a fair-use allowance of about an hour of scored audio a day.
- Heardy Pro is sold through the App Store as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone’s Settings under your Apple ID, or from Profile in the app.
- If you cancel a free trial before it ends, you won’t be charged. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you subscribe.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
Changes and availability
We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date above and tell you in the app.
Disclaimers
Heardy is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don’t guarantee particular results or that scores are error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Heardy in the 12 months before the claim (or USD 50 if you paid nothing).
Ending your use
You can stop using Heardy at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country requires otherwise.
